Helplessness
You are everything to me, my Master all the way.
So how can I offer my life to You today?
From beginning to the end all is Yours in this play.
To claim anything here is mine, how can I say . . . . . . . . . . .
Everywhere that I look Your form I do see
So then how can I request that You come to me?
Not one single second from You do I feel apart
So than tell me of yoga practice, how can I start? . . . . . . . . .
You alone are the form that stays in my mind
How can I install Your idol of any kind?
By Your grace all of life is Your divine play
To profess that I understand, how can I say? . . . . . . . . . .
My heart if Your sitar, love's music it sings
With these fingers, my Lord, how can I pluck the strings?
You're the plaintiff and opponent, You are A to Z.
To do justice to Your glory, how can it be? . . . . . . . . . . .
Everything in the world You have built and is Yours:
How can I say that I'm the doer of any chores?
Each and every step of life my intellect is subdued,
How can I think to conquer You, my "Kripalu"? . . . . . . . . . .

You are the Doer, Oh Lord, not I
Suresh Bhagat Patel and Leela enjoyed singing this bhajan all over India - in buses on trains, in temples and ashrams. Vinit Muniji offered word for word translation and after returning to America Leela translated it so it could be sung to the same melody.
