Give Me a Broader Mind
Mohana, make my mind broad in every way! . . . . . . . . . .
When a very angry person spits out words bitterly,
Help me please to tolerate this spray.
Help me to keep my tongue sweet and to speak softly:
Otherwise, not a word to say . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Give me an even outlook on life, accept all happily,
Save me from all moral decay.
Staring at their despair, or other's wealth to see:
Help me so that this mind of mine won't stray . . . . . . .
Let me see my Mother's image in every lady,
And have my glance upon her feet to lay.
Let Your love burn bright in all cells of this body,
And have only this purity display . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Even if a great big cobra should bite this devotee,
Let a smile on my face portray.
From everyone's heart a smile radiates brightly
If I love all my enemies today . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
This shallow small mind of mine just You can take only;
Then all my sins will vanish away.
Please make my mind deep, beloved "Kripalu":
Give to me, now, eternal peace, I pray . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
